The new season of slalom skiers will start behind the Arctic Circle in Levi, Lapland. Last year’s overall winner of the World Cup, Petra Vlhová from Slovakia, defends last year’s triumph here. A year ago, she pushed the winner of the opening round, Michelle Gisinová from Switzerland, to second place, the Austrian Liensberger took the bronze, while the winner from 2019, Shiffrin, finished fifth.
The winners of the Levi race traditionally receive symbolic gifts in the form of live reindeer, which they can name.
