The Slovak head of state at the funeral, which took place in the Strašnice crematorium in Prague from 2 pm, was accompanied by his partner Juraj Rizman. The Presidential Palace only informed about its participation in the funeral of the singing icon yesterday. She took part in the farewell at the invitation of the deceased’s family.

“Sweater, typical glasses and a smile. I’ve always felt like he won’t get old at all. We all know the lyrics of his songs by heart. He loved music, Slovak, London and the Beatles. Miroslav Zbirka was and will remain a legend.” the president wrote on her Facebook evening on November 10, shortly after the public learned of the singer’s death.

“Thanks to his talent, Slovak pop sounded absolutely global even in times of deep socialism. I hear his Ballad of the Wild Birds in my head and I am grateful that he was here with us. From working in the Modus group, through collaboration with Marika Gombitová, Lac Lučenič and even during the solo career he created dozens of hits that are known throughout Slovakia and the Czech Republic, “ she added.
