US House of Representatives Passes Biden’s Huge Social Spending Bill

(CNN) – House Democrats voted to pass President Joe Biden’s $ 1.9 trillion social spending bill, a victory for the party even as the legislation faces a tough road in the Senate.

The final vote was 220-213, and Maine Democrat Jared Golden voted against the bill. No Republican voted in favor. The bill now goes to the Senate, where changes are expected.

The vote took place Friday morning after House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy halted an effort to vote Thursday night by delivering an unprecedented marathon speech overnight.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, will speak with reporters at the hour of 10 am.
