Here’s an astronomical event that fans will love: a lunar eclipse, but not just any! Indeed, this Friday, November 19, will take place this phenomenon which does not happen every year because it is the lunar eclipse the longest of the 21st century.

A historic near total partial lunar eclipse

Indeed, a lunar eclipse is the result of the perfect alignment of the Sun, the Earth and the Moon. When these three stars are thus positioned in the sky in this order, the Moon is thus eclipsed while passing in the shadow of the Earth. In addition, a lunar eclipse only takes place when we are at the time of the full moon.

On this November 19, it will be a partial eclipse. But with only 3% of the lunar disk that is not illuminated by the sun, we will be close to the total eclipse.

However, despite being a partial lunar eclipse and the second this year, it can boast ofbe the longest of the century. And for good reason : it will last 6 hours and 2 minutes.
