The 3rd dose of Covid-19 vaccine recommended for pregnant women by gynecologists – The HuffPost

CORONAVIRUS – Extend the coronavirus vaccine booster to pregnant women or “with desire for pregnancy”. This is the recommendation in unison of the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF) and the Research Group on Infections During Pregnancy (GRIG) on Wednesday, November 17, while the campaign for the 3rd dose is accelerating.

In a joint press release, the two gynecology authorities recommend including pregnant women who were vaccinated more than 6 months ago in the public eligible for the booster dose.

Nowadays, the vaccine booster is open to people 65 years of age and over. People suffering from comorbidities, who are immunocompromised, who have received the Jansenn vaccine or even nursing staff are also concerned. But women are not mentioned for the moment.

“It has been proven that vaccination protects pregnant women”, recall the CNGOF and the GRIG, which underline the vulnerability of pregnant women to the Covid-19 virus, especially in the event of comorbidity.

After a sluggish start, the vaccination booster campaign has seen a resurgence in recent days, on the sidelines of Emmanuel Macron’s intervention. The President of the Republic has announced the conditioning of the health pass for the injection of this 3rd dose for people over 65 years old, by mid-December.

Tuesday, November 16, “nearly 200,000 booster doses were injected, it is a record”, welcomed Gabriel Attal Wednesday noting “an impact of the speech of the President of the Republic”.
