Pierre Niney explores his dark face in Lovers by Nicole Garcia

The spy comedy with OSS 117, the thriller with Boite Noire, and now the dark thriller eyeing Greek tragedy with Amants, in theaters this Wednesday … Pierre Niney has explored various registers this year on the big screen. Here he shows a darker side, much more dramatic and tragic, surrounded by Stacy Martin and Benoit Magimel.

The Lovers pitch is as follows: Lisa and Simon have loved each other passionately since their teenage years and lead the urban and nightlife of people their age. After an evening that turns badly and the outcome of which is none other than prison for Simon, he decides to flee. Lisa then waits for news from Simon which will never come. Three years later, in the Indian Ocean, she is married to Léo when their destinies meet again …

Amants, co-written by Nicole Garcia and Jacques Fieschi, is Nicole Garcia’s 9th feature film as director. The filmmaker is currently in the spotlight of a retrospective at the Cinémathèque de Paris.

Pierre Niney is expected next year in several feature films, including Goliath by Frédéric Tellier and Mascarade by Nicolas Bedos.
