Suslov needs a good transfer: Don’t look at money

Tomáš Suslov stood out in particular. Where does its potential go?

“It simply came to our notice then. At the age of 19, he wears a belt (deputy captain) in the Dutch league, that says a lot. He is light-footed, creative, perfectly centered, he is amazing one on one. I also like his confidence. It needs to make a good transition so that it can develop and benefit from representation. If he is not slowed down by injuries, he will be one of the leaders. ”

Offers the hottest reportedly from Ajax Amsterdam. What would you advise him before one of life’s decisions?

“I think he has enough counselors and he thinks about the future. He needs to move from Groningen to a better club in the winter or then in the summer, but he will start in it. Let him not look at big contracts now, he is young and still earns. If they offer him a game space in Ajax, it can be an ideal step. They have a patent to work with talent. ”

Let us not forget the specifics of Tarkovich’s period

On December 7, coach Tarkovič will submit an analysis of the past qualification to the Executive Committee of the Slovak Football Association. From your point of view, what were the positives and negatives?

“The biggest downside is the hesitation against outsiders at the beginning of the qualification. Otherwise, the pros prevail for me. After a slowdown and unsatisfactory European Championships, there was a significant game progress, although not supported by the results. At the end of the qualification, the coach also gave the young people a chance and they got caught. I have no reports of bad relationships in the team and the like. ”

Until September, Slovakia played without an offensive plan, courage, energy and sometimes even taste. Didn’t waiting for game progress take too long?

“Let’s not forget the specifics of that period. At the beginning of the qualification and during the European Championships, the coach had to rely on many players without form or optimal load in the club. At the European Championships, many blamed him for the game without an attacker, but Schranz and Strelec were injured and Boženík was out of shape.

He did not have preparatory duels to try new players. They need time to acclimatize. Suslov also looked nervous at the first starts, apparently he wasn’t ready yet. It wasn’t until November that he jumped out. Now we are somewhere completely different, we are going in the right direction. ”

Only Weiss and Kozák are better

Do you trust Tarkovič that after the game progress he will also achieve the result, or are you in favor of a change of coach?

“If we want to talk about the first step, not to continue working with Tarkovic, we need to know the second step, who will replace it? Ending the collaboration with the coach is the easiest. However, if we do not have a replacement ready or we are not convinced of it, we need to look for solutions and one of them is to give confidence to Tarkovich, whether he will improve the results after the game. ”

Is there a better alternative than Tarkovic among Slovak coaches?

“With respect to Tarkovič, despite his mistakes he did a piece of fantastic work as an assistant and now a coach, I see two people – Ján Kozák st. and Vladimír Weiss st. Kozák has basically retired into coaching. He might come back, but I don’t think it’s real. He left because of some players and they are still in the national team.

Weiss has a contract in Slovana Bratislava. He had sat on two chairs once before, maybe he would have dared to repeat. It bothered then, now it might not bother the competent. I don’t see other names at the moment with all due respect to other coaches.

The national team coach must have a huge authority or a perfect knowledge of the team. Sometimes he is more of a manager than a coach, he puts the icing on the top of the work of the whole implementation and player team. Therefore, I am convinced that only Weiss or Kozák can replace Tarkovič. ”

Weiss would be the only one in Europe to lead the club and the national team. Can you honestly imagine that?

“The only one, but if he did not terminate the contract with the Slavs and the union and the coach would go for it, I consider it the most ideal solution.”

I don’t expect football Ramsay

What about a coach from abroad?

“It is a question of who the association can afford, who is available, who would go in. ‘The Poles brought a Portuguese coach before the European Championships and scored a point. It doesn’t have to be worthwhile to try an unverified coach at this level. ”

In 2017, the Hockey Association made a move with Craig Ramsay, who was not very well known at the time. Would you be surprised by its football equivalent?

“It simply came to our notice then. I perceive the market, I communicate with people and I do not see a football Ramsay who would come and be successful at the moment. ”

What would be your recommendation if the executive committee asked you for one name?

“Since I think Cossack will not return, I would recommend Weissa.”

With the proviso that if it did not happen for any reason, you would be in favor of the continuation of Tarkovich?

“Yes.”
