TA´QALI – Slovak footballers said goodbye to the qualification of the World Cup 2022 and the calendar year with a high victory 6: 0 over Malta and thanks to the hat-trick of Ondrej Duda. In the table, the H-groups finished in third place with a score ahead of Slovenia with a final balance of 3 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses. For the world championship in Qatar, resp. they did not get to the spring barracks for the world, it was decided after the qualifying matches in October.

The first dangerous attack was made by the home team, but Hancko blocked the forward Satarian well. Then came the great moments of the Slovaks. Already in the 6th minute, after a nice combination action, Suslov found Strelec in the penalty area, who busted his free Russian with his breasts and he did not give the home goalkeeper any chance. Two minutes later, Koscelník fought on the wing after his own loss and fought Suslov. He swiftly placed the ball on the spot. 2 – 0 was the score. In the 16th minute Lobotka fought the ball in the middle of the field, the home defense in front of Rusnák completely receded and the Slovak midfielder placed a technical shot to the right post at 3: 0. In the further course, the guests clearly dominated, Haraslín and Suslov scored goals that did not apply to the position outside the game. They also burned two other good chances. The home keeper was stunned 30 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by Bonello and dived in the wrong direction.

Right at the beginning of the second act, after a foul on Suslov, the home team Camenzuli took off and the Slovaks played a power play. It was still played in the middle of Malta, which suffered another blow in the 51st minute. Suslova stopped in the penetration after the loss of the Teuma ball, which would not hurt so much, but after tripping the ball and unsportsmanlike behavior, he immediately saw the second yellow, resp. red card. In a few moments he got a sharp shot into the net Strelec, but the goal did not pay for offside. In the 56th minute, Bonello missed both Dud and Haraslín with two great interventions on the goal line. Strelec did not prevail in another chance, but in the 69th minute he relaxed again in the sixteenth Suslov, from the goal line to the second wave he gave Dud on a “golden tray”, who increased it to 4: 0. The defender de Marco came close to extending the visitors’ lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but he lifted the ball over. Duda scored in the 80th minute after another successful penetration of Suslov. The Slovaks did not advance in the shooting process, but they achieved the highest victory on the opponents’ pitches in the European Championships or World Championships.

The Slovaks managed to undo the hesitation with Malta from the first match in March in Trnava (2: 2). They have achieved 8 wins in the 10 mutual matches so far, they have two draws in the balance with this opponent.
