Covid, Austria and lockdown for unvaccinated: today the decision

Covid and rising infections in Austria. To counter the new wave of cases, the country is preparing to launch the lockdown for the unvaccinated as early as tomorrow, Monday 15 November. According to a draft proposal advanced by the Dpa agency, in fact, the measures would take effect at midnight and remain in force until November 24th. The federal government will discuss the text today with regional leaders, but broad support for the decision had already been expressed in advance. A commission of the National Council, the Austrian Chamber, will then rule on the decree in the evening. Read also If in the document it is noted that the decision is deemed necessary “to avoid the collapse of the health system”, those who are not vaccinated or cured of Covid will nevertheless be able to leave the house, as in previous lockdowns, to work or shop or in case of emergencies, and again to stay outdoors for physical or mental health reasons or to practice a religious cult. On the other hand, children under 12 years old are excluded from the restriction.
