The reason was that deputies for the Republic’s non-parliamentary party, led by Milan Mazurek, and ĽSNS deputies refused to put on a respirator. Many had to be expelled from the hall. Today, ĽSNS leader Marian Kotleba continues again, who also zealously called on Slovaks to protest.

The levy exemption for sports clubs for professional athletes could be extended by one year due to the pandemic. This follows from an amendment tabled by MP Radovan Sloboda (SaS) to amend the laws related to the third wave of the pandemic. He pointed out in plenary that the pandemic also had a negative impact on sports clubs. According to him, they are often in a difficult situation.

According to the justification of his proposal, several league clubs announce that even due to financial losses in connection with the pandemic, they will not be able to economically manage the increased personal costs of athletes and will not be able to take care of the development of professional sports in Slovakia. “It is proposed to adjust the period by which a natural person in a legal relationship under a contract for the professional practice of sport will be considered an employee from the point of view of the Social Insurance Act and the Health Insurance Act,” it is stated in the recital. The change is intended to reflect the transitional provisions of the Social Insurance Act, according to which, after 31 December 2021, sports clubs would have to pay the full contribution burden for athletes performing sports “in a way that fulfills the characteristics of dependent work under a professional sports contract”.

The Council of Experts does not rule out tightening up

The Council of Experts does not preclude a possible tightening of measures. He says that the epidemiological situation in Slovakia is currently critical. According to them, Slovakia needs a drastic change in measures and improved compliance. Experts are positive that the government has taken most of their proposed measures.

According to them, the short-term goal is to protect human lives and maintain a functioning health system. In the medium term, according to them, it is necessary to significantly increase the vaccination of the population. “Only in this way can we mitigate the effects of the third wave of the pandemic and prepare for the next one. The immediate implementation of measures is crucial, monitoring their effectiveness, as well as their rapid adaptation if they prove ineffective.” stated.

24 new measures

The proposal speaks of the possibility that an employee should prove himself / herself with a vaccination against COVID-19 disease, a confirmation of overcoming the disease or a negative test result upon entering work. This could also be required in plants. A person who refuses to prove his or her identity should not be admitted to establishments or to a mass event. The legislative proposal also talks about other changes, such as pandemic PN, but also fines if someone offends health professionals, falsifies the COVID pass or endangers the provision of health care.

A package of measures that we will have to comply with after final approval

1. Opening of facilities and accommodation in black districts for fully vaccinated and those who have overcome Covid-19 in the last 180 days.
2. Employers shall control the OTP scheme of their employees.
3. The employer will have to test his employees twice a week. The state will reimburse or provide the necessary tests by the end of November.
4. In the black districts, unvaccinated employees who have not survived the disease will also be able to work in the facilities. However, they will need to be tested at all times with a respirator that will cover their upper airways.
5. Operators and organizers of mass events will be obliged to check compliance with the measures and, in addition to the proof of vaccination / testing / overcoming the disease, they will be able to check the identity card for data verification.
6. If the inspected person refuses to prove his / her identity or vaccination / testing / overcoming certificate, the operator or organizer will be obliged to refuse to enter the establishment or to a mass event.
7. If a person violates the measures of the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic specified in the decree after entering the operation or event, the operator or organizer will have the right to expel him.
8. In case of violation of the established rules, the staff of the RÚVZ will have the right to impose a block fine and to close the operation for 30 days.
9. An employee of the RÚVZ may request the PZ SR for co-operation for the closure of the operation after finding deficiencies.
10. Repeated non-compliance with the closure will be considered a serious infringement. In this case, the Trade Licensing Office revokes the trade license.
