Miroslav Žbirka sometimes said that without his brothers, he would not have become a successful singer. It was they who brought him to quality music and were his first critics.

Unfortunately, the eldest Jason committed suicide in 1969. And his death then became a taboo in the family, which is not discussed. “We know it happened, but we never talked about it at home, because we all still feel pretty bad about it, and that’s why we tried to protect my mother from painful memories,” revealed the singer when in 2008 he first began to speak publicly about the tragic event.

Even after many years, he was just wondering why Jason did it. “It simply came to our notice then. It took place 5 months after the September invasion. He was a musician and an intellectual, he belonged to the idealistic generation that lived by what happened in the 1960s and wanted to change the world for the better. And so what happened to us hit him hard. He probably still had some personal problems, but the political situation could also have affected him. ” Meky argued in an interview for Czech Blesk. Žbirka often mentioned that this event ended his childhood for him and he became a more serious boy. And he never found the courage to pick up from his parents, which said in the farewell letter Jason had left. “Sure, I wonder why Jasey died, but I never had the courage to ask.” he admitted.

In time, however, he lost his parents, and after his mother’s death, he could read the fateful letter. But he never did it! “I have a hunch that his farewell letter is in one of my mom’s boxes.
