“Have you seen the Nitra lineup? Take note of the five, a 16-year-old boy, a great talent, “a Nitra fan told us about a year and a half ago before the match on the grounds of Zlaté Moraviec. Sebastián Kóša took part in this meeting for the first time in the highest Slovak competition. He was the five.

At that time, at the age of 16 years and 274 days, he ranked sixteenth among debutants in our league. The Nitra fan was right, Kóša already attracted us with his performance. He is still only 18 years old, but he regularly joins Spartak Trnava and is even one of its leaders. The support of “angels” and the Slovak national team under the age of 21 is growing out of the basket.

SEBASTIÁN KÓŠA is the youngest, but definitely not the least experienced player in the national team under 21

FROM KOMJATICE TO TRNAVA

Sebastián Kóša comes from the village of Černík in the Nové Zámky district. He took his first football steps in nearby Komjatice. Even then, it seemed that he would grow into a good football player. However, few people predicted his first-league career with the potential to sell to a good foreign club. He left Komjatice for Chrenová, which is a part of Nitra, and also worked in Zlaté Moravce for a while. He then left ViOn for Nitra and it was in her jersey that he entered our highest competition for the first time. Since then, Sebastian Koš’s career has gone up.

It was last summer, exactly on June 13, at the end of last season. Nitra played in the superstructure part about staying on the ground of Zlaté Moravce. With number five on his back, Sebastián Kóša made his debut in the Slovak league.

“I remember the match very well. I was only 16 years old and I admit that I was a little shaken at first. I played as a defensive midfielder. To this day, I remember how surprised I was when coach Miroslav Nemec told me I would join. I played a little carefully. I told myself that in particular, I couldn’t go wrong. I think the match worked out for me, just a pity of the result, ” Kóša told us, remembering the meeting in which Nitra lost on the grounds of Zlaté Moraviec 1: 2.

The young boy started the end of the 2019/20 season in two more matches. Then he moved to Trnava. They can still regret in Nitra. Especially for the way they lost a talented young man. Kóša left for Trnava as a free agent. Nitra did not have a professional contract signed with him and instead of a solid severance pay, he received only a ridiculous 13,000 euros based on table regulations.

CONTRACT AS A REMUNERATION

Last season, Kóša started to play for Spartak more regularly, he played 18 first-league matches in his jersey. He fully asserted himself in the current year. We can no longer even imagine a defensive formation without Sebastian Kosa. It grows with each match, it improves. Plus, he’s got someone to learn from. In the tracker pair, he plays alongside former national team captain Martin Škrtel.

“I play great with him, he is an experienced fighter, he has played many matches abroad, he has an incredible overview. I’m looking forward to being able to board next to Mať Škrtel, he still has something to tell me, he leads me to good performances. Everyone would play well alongside such an excellent football player. Maťo is also a cool guy off the field, he is very humble, he doesn’t need to prove anything, even though he played for eight years in Liverpool, in one of the best clubs in the world, “ Sebastián Kóša talks about his experienced teammate.

The 18-year-old tracker is tall enough, has a good pass and handles personal fights well. Trnava coach Michal Gašparík ml. he said he was the best player in almost every match. That’s why Spartak offered him a new contract, long-term, until 2025.

“I am sincerely grateful for the new contract. I feel that the club trusts me. I’m trying to pay him off on the field. The new contract is a motivation for me, I got a new desire to do, to grow football, “ declared Sebastián Kóša. He is already interested in his services abroad. In Trnava, however, they want to keep it at least until the summer. The Spartans believe that “Sebo” will help them win the title.

Its current price is estimated at 400 thousand euros. And it will definitely grow. Every start in the highest competition, every success of the club will increase its price. Kosha can become the most expensive player leaving Trnava. Even for 1.5 million euros or more. Nowadays, when football players’ prices are at astronomical heights, this is realistic.

“I am satisfied in Trnava, but one day I would like to move abroad. Who wouldn’t want to? ” a student of a sports grammar school in Nitra, where he will graduate in a few months, asked himself a rhetorical question. “Apart from training, I can’t go to school every day, I have an individual study plan and I try to catch up with everything online,” says the youngest Trnava goal scorer in history.

AFTER THREE POINTS

Currently, Sebastián Kóša is with the Slovak national team under 21 in Russia, where our youngsters will play a qualifying duel today to advance to the European Championships 2023. Most likely also with Koš in the team. After all, the Trnava tracker did not miss a minute in the four qualifying matches so far.

“We have been conscientiously preparing for the Russians since the beginning of the week. We know the set-up they’re playing in. We saw in the video their matches against Lithuania and Northern Ireland. We know how they attack, how they try to balance the balls, how they can get out of the block, and how they defend standard situations. We all believe that this information will help us to achieve a good result. “ declared Sebastián Kóša.

We immediately asked what he thought would be a good result. “Every point gain from outside is appreciated. From this point of view, a draw would be nice, but we don’t want to play in a draw, we need three points. “ he was determined by a skilled tracker.

Slovakia is in third place in the C-group after four meetings. At home she won twice – over Lithuania 3: 1 and over Malta 4: 0. Outside, however, he has two losses. Both tight, in Northern Ireland 0: 1 and in Spain 2: 3. It is gratifying that she kept up with her opponent in both duels. It was even better on the Islands. Spain led the group’s biggest favorite twice.

“We need to present ourselves as boldly as we have done so far and add efficiency. We are confident enough. We know what tactics could apply to the Russians. Just follow her. The previous two performances with opponents are for encouragement. Our team is well set up, we are a great party. I believe that we will show it today in Chimky and torment the Russians, ” Sebastián Kóša wished.

The Russians are in second place in the table. At the beginning of the qualification they lost to the Spaniards, but then they scored three victories and did not collect them once. “Of course we can’t say we’re favorites. These are Russians. But the favorites were also the Spaniards and we played a good match with them, we were close to gaining a point. The Russians are at home, they are expected to manage the match and win, but we came for three points, “ The 18-year-old defender says fearlessly.

In the current twenty-one, Kosha is the youngest player. “I am used to being the youngest everywhere. From an early age, I played at least one category higher. Nobody reminds me that I’m younger, but I can’t avoid carrying boxes or collecting balls. “ Finally, Sebastián Kóša recalled the unwritten football habits associated with the youngest players in teams around the world.

KENTOŠ: EXCELLENT PLAYER AND CHALAN

The coach of the Slovak national team under 21 Jaroslav Kentoš knows Sebastián Kóš very well. He is not afraid to nominate him for demanding matches, although the young man from Trnava belongs to a lower age category.

“Sebo regularly plays for the strong Trnava this season. With his own performance, he kept his place in the basic line-up. He joins Martin Škrtel, which helps him a lot. He has every chance to go far in the future.

In addition to excellent football skills, he is also a very good boy, humble and modest. On the pitch, whether in a match or in training, he always performs all his duties one hundred percent. Although he doesn’t talk much and is rather a quiet guy, he talks with his football performances, “ described our coach by Sebastian Kosha.
