Anvcg at the ANCI annual Assembly, hundreds of municipalities will join the campaign ‘Stop bombing civilians’

The National Association of Civil War Victims participated in the 38th National Assembly of ANCI which was held in Parma from 9 to 11 November. He did so with his stand in which he promoted his activities and in particular launched the “Stop bombing civilians” campaign in view of the next National Day of Civilian Victims of World Warfare Wars to be held on February 1st. 2022. Over two hundred municipalities that responded to the call during the three days of the fair and that on February 1st will display the banner “Stop bombing civilians” against the use of explosive weapons in populated areas at their Town Hall. Currently in the world there are dozens of armed conflicts and wars, declared or not, the violence of which affects the civilian population, causing deaths, disability and destruction, as well as the systematic violation of fundamental human rights. In Afghanistan, Libya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Syria, Somalia and Yemen and many other places, thousands of people have lost their lives, physical integrity and / or a loved one due to the violence of war. A large part of these victims is represented by civilians, who have now become the main target of violence in armed conflicts, with a proportion that is currently around 90%. In this regard, the approval of an international political declaration is under discussion, the negotiation process of which is supported by Italy, which asks the states to limit the suffering of civilians involved in conflicts in urban areas, which currently number about 50 million. The presence of ANVCG, the only third sector body present at the Shareholders’ Meeting, is the result of the collaboration with ANCIcomunicare, which began last March in order to promote awareness of law no. 9 which established the Day and that in art. 2 is aimed precisely at local authorities, inviting them to organize every February 1st “ceremonies, events, meetings and testimonies on the experiences lived by the civilian population during the world wars and on the impact of subsequent conflicts on civilian populations all over the world”. The National Association of Civil War Victims is the non-profit organization in charge of representing and protecting civilian war victims and their relatives in Italy by law. An audience that still numbers 100,000 among the mutilated, disabled, blind, widows and orphans due to war whose number, still so high, also depends on the fact that many thousands of civilian victims of war have become such even after years of end of the conflict, due to the weapons of war which were disseminated in our country. Particular sensitivity towards the campaign was demonstrated, among others, by the President of the Chamber Hon. Roberto Fico, by the President of ANCI Antonio Decaro and by the Mayor of Parma and landlord Federico Pizzarotti who wanted to be photographed at the ANVCG stand with the “Stop bombing civilians” t-shirt together with the Secretary General of the Association, Avv. Roberto Serio, present in Parma together with the National Councilor Maria Luisa Cenci, to the President of the Parma Section Alfredo Isetti, to Marco Castronovo, secretary of the promoting committee for the establishment of the International Day of civilian victims of wars and conflicts in the world and to a delegation of the Association. ANVCG appeals to the local authorities that have not yet joined, so that they too display on the balconies of their municipalities on February 1st the banner with the campaign slogan.
