Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OĽANO) said this on Thursday on the occasion of War Veterans’ Day, which he commemorated at the war cemetery in Petržalka, Bratislava.

“I believe that when generosity reigns in our lives, we must live better and healthier,” said Heger. He pointed to the heroism of the veterans in that they persevered in the fight and fought with all their might. But the greatest heroism, he said, was that they stepped forward and went into battle.

Even at the present time, when Slovakia is fighting against the new coronavirus, according to Heger, we are deciding whether to enter the fight. “I want to use this parallel because we can’t ensure the public good without sacrifice. Each of us needs to take that first step and do something for the others.” Heger said. He added that everyone in the world is facing this issue and it is specifically about vaccination against COVID-19.

Kollár commemorated War Veterans Day

The President of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Boris Kollár (We are a family) commemorated War Veterans Day on Thursday. On this occasion, he laid a wreath at the war cemetery in Petržalka, Bratislava. “I’ve talked to ordinary people who are veterans here, and we’ve also talked about the current threat. The threat may not only be military, but it can also be the pandemic we have now. People are still dying in the civilized world.” Kollár said.
