They presented a package of stringent measures and warned that the health system was in danger of collapsing again. Vaccination rates are low and some hospitals are already full. Experts ignored the recommendations

In addition, there is a 10 to 15 percent more infectious delta plus subvariant in Slovakia. Nevertheless, it seems that the government will not accept the measures proposed by the experts. On the social network, Prime Minister Eduard Heger informed about the list of measures to be decided by the government on the social network. Compared to the original package, this is a huge difference and most of the recommended experts have ignored it.

Although the Prime Minister is aware of the seriousness of the situation, the measures proposed by the coalition are more lenient. “The number of infected is rising sharply, Slovakia is turning black. We have therefore decided to act, motivating but also strictly at the same time. “However, all under regular compliance checks,” wrote Heger. It is precisely these measures that the consul has not yet recommended, as the current measures are being violated and their control is insufficient.

There is only one measure left, the powers of the ÚVZ and the police will be strengthened

Among the proposed changes, there is a lack of consideration of compulsory vaccination for selected groups, a ban on celebrations, restrictions on movement for the unvaccinated in black districts or the interruption of teaching in the most disadvantaged districts. The only measure that has been included in the list of changes is the mandatory introduction and control of COVID passports. However, authorizations for the Public Health Office and the police should be added. They will have the right to impose a block fine or close the business on the spot.

The Council of Measures has proposed stricter measures

Last week, a consortium of experts agreed on a package of strict measures that they said should help stabilize the already critical situation. They have not yet commented on the coalition measures, as they are not official. Minister Vladimír Lengvarský stated on Monday morning that he was behind the experts’ proposals.

One of the council members Elena Prokopová said that they could imagine that businesses and restaurants would be opened in the black districts for the vaccinated and those who overcame COVID. However, the condition is strict control, which is currently absent. That is why they have not proposed these measures until the controls are effective.

Lengvarský did not reject the aforementioned restriction of movement, ie a local lockdown in black districts for unvaccinated people. The Ministry of Health also informed about this form of lockdown on Friday after the crisis staff meeting. The details of the new measures should be known today after the government’s negotiations. The prime minister added that he would also know how the inspections would take place and what the level of sanctions would be.

There will probably be no local emergency

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health, Zuzana Eliášová, gave a statement after Friday’s meeting of the extraordinary crisis staff. The situation with the COVID-19 epidemic is serious. “The number of infected people is growing and so is the number of patients with COVID-19 in hospitals. We need to make more transfers and adapt the capacity of hospitals to those infected.” she said.

“The Ministry of Health has presented a proposal to introduce a local emergency, because the situation in some regions is very serious,” Elijah said, adding that it would only mean a state of emergency for some regions. The limited movement for the unvaccinated was one of the council’s proposals, which, however, is not included in the changes adopted by the coalition council. Experts imagine it in the form of a curfew as defined in the COVID vending machine. However, exceptions would be extended to vaccinated individuals and those who have survived the coronavirus. To restrict movement, however, it is necessary to adopt a state of emergency for which there is currently no political will.
