Covid, Di Stefano: ‘With the end of the crisis, review the logic of the market and production’

In the last year and a half, Italy “has passed the worst moment in its history from the post-war period to today” recording “probably negative record numbers” such as “-9% of GDP, exports collapsing by 13%”. This is the scenario recalled by the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Manlio di Stefano, who, speaking at the event ‘Future forward: Italy and the future of trade’, organized by Economist with the support of Philip Morris International, underlined how, in the latter period linked to the pandemic, “the economy was also affected at a European level by the Dpi gap, such as masks, which in Europe no longer produced anyone”. But the “catastrophic picture” according to Di Stefano “reinforced in no” the belief “that the exit from the pandemic crisis must be a season not only economic but also” linked “to the updating of market and national production logics” , with a view also to “all those areas which, in my opinion, are treated very well by the G20 and the B20”, argued the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs. Di Stefano, however, noted that all the topics discussed by the summit “must not remain” just words “but must become a phase of public-private policy that can create a benefit for the European economy and for the world economy” since ” we are all interconnected “.
