Doctor Visolajský: Advised Heger’s measures are disappointing for me – TVNOVINY.sk

Prime Minister Eduard Heger announcedthat the government will take new measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus. Slovenské nemonice is facing a record increase in covid patients and is postponing planned interventions. The doctors signed a public call in support of vaccination and declared that I would no longer rule.

The consortium of experts therefore came up with proposals on how to reverse the situation and reduce the epidemic curve in Slovakia. However, Heger introduced a set of measures that have been taken since experts vary. The coalition council did not take the toughest measures.

Peter Visolajský, a doctor from the Nitra University Hospital, considers the announced measures to be disappointing.

“Neither the government nor the Ministry of Health have learned anything from last year and are repeating the mistakes of last year when they did not want to accept reality and act effectively in December. Although these measures are necessary, I am afraid that they are not enough to reverse the situation, “comments Visolajský.

He is also concerned about whether the health sector really has the will to ensure compliance. According to him, this requires strict area control by the police or the army. He points out that we can only win a pandemic in front of hospitals. “If they start to fill with sick patients, we lose,” he adds.

He also criticizes poor vaccination, which, according to Visolajsky, is the only and real solution to the spread of the infection. He points out that the administration of the third dose came late and is accompanied by complications. The third dose can save the lives of people with weak immunity.

“I’m sorry to say this, but seeing the long-term third-party vaccination advice that the minister promised would be available in late October, and we’re in exponential growth, for me as a doctor, it’s an incomprehensible underestimation of a situation that everyone they knew he was coming. I also do not understand that today Slovakia is surprised that our hospitals and paramedics are already going beyond their means and at the same time for the whole year the Ministry of Health and the government did not support them except empty words, “explains the doctor.

According to him, the surrounding countries made health professionals feel that they respected them and that they needed them. According to Visolajsky, we have found ourselves in a situation from which there is no other way out than compulsory vaccination of pensioners. He thinks that interest in vaccination will increase slightly and he fears that there will not be enough vaccination capacity, which will slow down this, precisely because of the workload of health professionals.
