After the unfortunate end of the US Open, the Serbian giant took a longer break from tennis. He had his teeth full, because he had heard from all over the world how little he missed to balance Rod Laver’s iconic notation.

An ordinary person can hardly imagine the great pressure Djokovic had to face. In an uncompromising and often quite unpleasant environment in Flushing Meadows, he had to achieve something that no one had succeeded for a long, long 52 years. Not even the Federers with Nadal.

It did not work. The vision of a unique record also made Djokovic, a man who is “said” to be the most resilient and mentally strong tennis player in history. But in that New York final, he was completely clueless. No vigor, no juice, no plan.

Srdjan and Dijan’s parents did not travel to Paris, but at least they supported their son at a distance from his native Belgrade. The proud father was lucky after Djokovic’s 86th tournament title and told the Sport Club that Novak is the best athlete on the planet.
