Sicily protagonist of the Salerno Biennale

“This is an international exhibition of the highest level and we are also here to give our testimony after one of the most difficult periods of the pandemic, which stopped the world, but not the Art that has continued to create, transferring that into images. that happened around us. ”To say the Sicilian painters Lorenzo Chinnici and Dimitri Salonia, both 80 years old and with over 60 years of career, among the super guests at the IV edition of the Salerno Biennale, which will remain open until November 21st. 233 artists participate in the exhibition and come from 35 different states, making the event more and more important and international.The Sicilians Chinnici and Salonia are among the guests together with other well-known artists such as Rabarama, well known for its splendid statues. Salonia and Chinnici, recently, have created two four-handed works entitled “Natura vince” and “Aquarium”, where they analyzed the period of the Co he vid making us understand with the images and their splendid colors, how in the end nature prevails over everything, and restores balance in the world. After the Biennale, the two masters will continue their national and international artistic tour, which this year has already touched Stresa and Castrocaro and will also see their exhibitions in Rome, Cannes, Shanghai, Dubai, Toronto and other important places, where they will try to transfer with their works to visitors from all over the world the colors and traditions of Sicily. “Also this year – explain the artistic directors of the event and the curators and creators of the Biennale of Salerno, Olga Marciano and Giuseppe Gorga – we are honored to have such important artists, and it is an even more difficult bet for a new feeling, to be experienced. in Art, both with the materials and techniques of the past, and with the new means of expression, manifesting a pluralistic vision of contents, techniques of artistic experiences: a spectacular laboratory of global creativity. This year we could have resigned ourselves to an online Biennale, but we felt we had to wait and hope to be able to still be present on the field, resisting the long isolation and keeping open the window of a possible “dialogue”, made up of listening, meetings, exchanges, travels, to return to experience the emotions of sharing art. For those who still will not have the opportunity to be there, we have designed the setting up of a space of works in video, usable by visitors through monitors. At the end of an overdose of virtual images, we finally host also physically, therefore, works and artists from all over the world, also called to the challenge of exploiting the understandable desire of people to regain the plane of reality, irreplaceable for socialization, the sharing and meeting, for a “journey” that is tangible, mental and emotional at the same time, between images, imagination, imagination and experimentation “. In addition to Salonia and Chinnici, among other things, just this year during the exhibition there were two Sicilian municipalities Merì and Condrò located in the province of Messina, and they put in place the world event ‘Timeless Immortal Art’. A delegation made up of mayors, councilors and artists of the two villages was rewarded during the event by the organizers because with their event they gave the gift of immortality to 60 artists from all over the world, first of all making the small Municipality of Merì a open-air museum with their works and installations.
