‘Roma Arte in Nuvola’, Nicosia director: “Public and gallery owners’ bookings are growing”

The expectation is growing and preparations are underway for the first edition of ‘Roma Arte in Nuvola’, the international fair of modern and contemporary art to be held at EUR, in the Congress Center designed by Massimiliano Fuksas, from 18 to 21 November. The initiative, conceived and directed by Alessandro Nicosia, a real expert in the sector with 35 years of activity behind him and over 400 exhibitions curated or created in his professional career, records “an increasing number of bookings from the public and gallery owners from all over Italy attracted by the possibility of entering a market where they may have worked little. Many will come, not only from Rome from Central Italy, but also from Northern Italy in particular from Milan and Turin. They will also come from abroad ” , Nicosia tells AdnKronos. The objective of the event, whose artistic direction has been entrusted to Adriana Polveroni who makes use of the collaboration of Valentina Ciarallo, is precisely to ignite a new interest in the city by offering it an opportunity to relaunch in the field of cultural and artistic production. . “Rome needed such a possibility and we are trying to fill a void” assures Nicosia who from the point of view of the precise organization: “The 120 planned galleries and over 30 installations have been confirmed and the preparations have already begun. a significant number of collectors who will come to the Nuvola are registered. On the other hand, the charm of Rome and the prestigious Eur district, also highlighted by the recent G20, has led many of them to participate in the fair “. The event is another initiative put in place by Nicosia which, in the light of its experience gained in the field of organizing exhibitions and cultural events in Italy and around the world, including those related to the 150 of the Unification of Italy , welcomed “the idea that was already proposed to me by gallery owners to fill the void in the context of contemporary art that Rome has accumulated over time”. A new project, therefore, which comes after numerous successes achieved by Nicosia. Successes such as having brought Fellini’s stage drawings to the Guggenheim Museum in New York and the Academy of Los Angeles where a tribute evening to the great director was held. Recognitions that have obtained an important ‘seal’: Nicosia was awarded by the Head of State, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, with the title of Commander of the Republic. A title that took him by surprise when he was reached in New York by a call from the Quirinal Secretariat asking him to return to Italy. The host country of ‘Roma Arte in Nuvola will be Israel which will be told in the exhibition’ Israel Landscape ‘, curated by Ermanno Tedeschi and Vera Pilpoul, in which the works of 17 contemporary artists will be presented. Not only that: to further enrich the offer there will be over 30 special projects, exhibitions and exhibits with which works, installations and videos will be proposed. Also not to be overlooked are the talks ‘Rethinking Rome’ which will give life to about thirty protagonists of the art scene, artists, museum directors, critics, collectors who will reflect on the post-pandemic state of art and on future prospects.
