What will change concretely?

Among other things, from this Tuesday, November 9, Google accounts and all applications affiliated with them will therefore have their security enhanced thanks to two-factor authentication.

Emails were sent to users who still would not have switched to this mode of connection to an account, explained Google which specifies to these recipients: “The two-step verification will be activated automatically on November 9. If you wish it , you can activate this feature first: your account is ready “. In practice, Google warns seven days before this change becomes effective.

How to proceed ?

To activate two-factor authentication yourself:

1. Access your Google account from the management page, then select Security in the left column.

2. In the “Connect to Google” section, click Validation in two stages, as specified in moderator’s blog.

3. A context page explains the principle of double authentication. Click on To start.

4. Google prompts you to bind your phone, as a medium for two-step verification. Follow the procedure to activate this setting. Once your number has been validated and two-factor authentication activated, Google offers you other possible second steps to configure.

As of November 1, two-factor authentication has just become mandatory for the creators of the YouTube Partner Program.
