Anyone who tries to travel with a forged document will be reported to the prosecutor’s office and may be prosecuted. Those who want to leave their district without the necessary document will have to return and also notify them to the authorities.

Upper Austria is particularly hard hit, with inspections already taking place in 11 of the 18 districts. The seven-day incidence of the infection there is 660.5 infected per 100,000 inhabitants. District border checks are introduced in Austria when the incidence value exceeds 500. In Lower Austria, more than 100 police officers are deployed every day to monitor compliance.

On Monday, inspections may also be introduced in the largest Austrian district of Liezen, located in Styria, as noted by its chairman Christian Sulzbacher. According to him, the police will check passengers at 15 places, while checks will not be carried out on motorways. He will also not be checked when he returns to the district, he added.
