With the start of the school year, the health protocol at school will have to be strengthened. This was confirmed by Gabriel Attal at the end of the Council of Ministers during a press briefing, stressing a necessary adaptation in the face of a resumption of the epidemic in most regions.

In recent weeks, the incidence rate of several departments has risen above the alert threshold, set at 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Consequently, 39 metropolitan departments as well as Reunion Island will have to restore the wearing of masks in primary school at the start of the All Saints holidays, Monday, November 8, going back from level 1 to level 2 of the national education health protocol.

“As the situation deteriorates, unfortunately, we have to reactivate a number of measures”, justified Gabriel Attal. “We know very well that for the youngest children in terms of basic comfort, but also and perhaps even above all, in terms of learning, in terms of awakening to others, wearing a mask is far from be obvious. “

Here is the list of the departments concerned, which was unveiled on Wednesday evening:

Ain, Hautes-Alpes, Ardennes, Aveyron, Cher, Corrèze, Haute-Corse, Côtes-d’Armor, Creuse, Drôme, Eure-et-Loir, Gers, Ille-et-Vilaine, Indre-et-Loire, Isère, Loir-et-Cher, Haute-Loire, Loire-Atlantique, Lot, Lot-et-Garonne, Maine-et-Loire, Morbihan, Moselle, Nord, Oise, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Orientales, Bas- Rhine, Haut-Rhin, Sarthe, Savoie, Seine-et-Marne, Deux-Sèvres, Tarn, Tarn-et-Garonne, Var, Vendée, Vienne

Note that 18 metropolitan departments had kept the mask at school.

“In mainland France, 57 departments will thus apply level 2 of the health protocol and 39 departments will apply level 1, with Mayenne moving from level 2 to level 1 due to the favorable development of its epidemic situation”, specifies the government press release.

“In the overseas territories, with regard to the health situation, Reunion is going from level 1 to level 2 of the protocol. Guadeloupe and Martinique will start school at level 2 of the protocol thanks to the improvement of their indicators, while Guyana maintains the application of the level 4 protocol. Finally, Mayotte remains at level 1 of the health protocol. “
