KOŠICE. After primary holidays, Košice primary schools (ZŠ) report the most infected this school year.

It informs the city about it on its website.

Positive test for the disease covid-19 went out to students and teachers in 12 of the 34 elementary schools in its founding area.

Record number

“The virus affected a total of 70 students and 13 teachers, which is a record number during the current school year. As many as 90 percent of current cases were reported by schools today, “the municipality said.

The head of the education department, Beáta Lopušniaková, specified that nine children and six teachers with positive tests were added to the Hroncova primary school.

Several new cases, mostly among pupils, also appeared in the Lac Novomeského primary school and the Park Angelinum primary school.

“Fortunately, thanks to the holidays, the students did not meet in class, and in addition, many classes ended in quarantine at the turn of October and November,” she said.

A quarter increase

There are currently 32 quarantined schools in the founding schools of the city, which is about a quarter of the increase compared to last week.

673 students who are in quarantine had online lessons on Tuesday.

Of the total number of all pupils in Košice schools, this represents more than four percent.

“Seven pedagogical employees of schools, who have not yet been vaccinated so far, have also been quarantined,” adds the municipality.

According to him, the epidemic situation in the primary school in Košice is significantly better than the national average, which represents 10 percent of students in involuntary online teaching.
