The new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has the strongest atmospheric eight-cylinder in the world, 680 horsepower reaches at 8,600 rpm – REFRESHER

New Chevrolet Corvette codenamed C8, it has been with us since 2019, although the American icon only reached its first customers last year. Despite the fact that the current generation has been accepted by the public in a truly lukewarm way due to a radical change in the concept, the carmaker is not hiding its success.

However, the greatest attention is being paid to the Corvette only now, because the Americans have just shown us a modern version of the famous version. Z06, which at C2 in 1963 established itself as the top in the offer.

The new generation Z06 received a significantly redesigned bodykit – in addition to the brand new front bumper, there was a significant expansion of the fenders, and thus the entire width of the vehicle by up to 9.4 cm! The side opening for the supply of life-giving air to the heart of the supersport is also larger, and a large spoiler can appear at the rear as an additional option.

20 “discs at the front and up to 21” at the rear are standard, while the tires are 275/30 and 345/25, respectively. Specifically, it is a Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, within the additional package Z07 it is possible to choose not only carbon discs, but also Sport Cup 2 R tires.

Chevrolet offers the novelty not only as a coupe, but also as a Convertible version, their hallmark is also the four tailpipes in the middle. The changes, of course, did not bypass the interior, which is even more sporty. However, let’s head for the cockpit, where the most important thing is – the 5.5-liter atmospheric unit LT6 DOHC V8.

Its output is finally higher than expected, because it serves a maximum output of up to 500 kW / 680 hp for the Z06, at up to 8,600 rpm! According to Chevrolet, this is the most powerful atmospheric eight-cylinder in a production car. The torque is 623 Nm at 6,300 rpm, with power traveling exclusively to the rear wheels via an 8-speed DCT transmission.

Interestingly, in the official press release, the carmaker does not specify speed parameters, but the news came to the surface that the acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h can be managed by the Cortvette Z06 with the Z07 package in just 2.6 seconds.

With this optional package, the new generation weighs only 1,561 kilograms, which is certainly not a bad figure for today’s conditions. Production will not start until next summer, ie as a model year 2023. We do not know the price yet.
